Sunday, October 17 Mort Künstler, whose Civil War paintings are currently on view in For Us the Living, discusses his work and the creative process he employs to produce paintings. His dramatic works of art achieve such historical accuracy that historian James McPherson wrote “….none capture the human element, the aura of leadership, the sense of being there and sharing in the drama quite like Mort Künstler.” Admission is $25 (members, $15) and includes admission to the museum. Saturday, October 23 Civil War Encampment & Skirmish Fun for the whole family! A Civil War encampment begins on NCMA’s grounds at 10 a.m. See authentic uniforms, costumes and artifacts of the period. A reenactment of a skirmish between the North and the South begins at 1 p.m. No reservations needed. Free with a $2 weekend parking fee (members, free). |

Thursday, November 11 A Benefit for the Museum The Benefactors Dinner is always one of the most glamorous evenings of the museum’s social year and also provides a significant amount of support for the museum’s exhibitions and programs. This year, for the first time, the Benefactors Dinner will be held away from the museum. An elegant reception will be held at New York City’s Hammer Gallery followed by dinner at The University Club.
