A six-part series on the art, literature and music of the Jazz Age. This university-level seminar will meet weekly for lively discussion and refreshments.

Art Compass: For Teens and Young Adults with Autism

Ages 13 - 21
April 10, 24, May 8, 22, June 5, 12
4:00 - 5:15 pm

Teens receive hands-on training in basic artistic processes that can be translated into practical job skills. Based on current exhibitions in the galleries at the Museum, these workshops will encourage participants to explore different methods of art making and design and how a museum can be a resource for creative inspiration. Students with autism will have the opportunity to apply their artistic skills and functional academic learning in a real world setting, while preparing to transition to after school life. Partial funding for our program for autism comes from the North Shore Autism Circle.

Drop-In Figure Drawing

Thursdays, 6:30 - 8:30 pm
Not available April 5 and June 7
$20 Members, $25 Non-Members
Participants are responsible for providing their own supplies.
Please arrive 15 - 20 minutes in advance.

A unique opportunity to draw from a live model in a gallery setting. Bring your drawing supplies and observe a range of short and long poses each week to create original works. There is no instructor provided, and participants work independently.

Fri Yay Art Day!

at The Manes Center

$5 per child for Non-Members
Ages 3 - 5
Reservations not needed

Young children and their adult companions investigate color, shape, form and more with hands-on activities. They will have the opportunity to experiment and become familiar with art materials and processes as they discover new skills while nurturing creative expression.

Creative Expeditions:
For Children with Autism

Ages 5 - 12 and their families

10:00 - 11:15 am

This innovative program gives families a chance to witness their child experience success in a welcoming and creative learning environment. Parents and caregivers will gain skills in behavioral methods which they can employ when bringing their child into a community setting. Families will engage in fun interactive gallery experiences that provide opportunities for everyone to look at and talk about art in a group setting followed by hands on art making activities that encourage experimentation with new materials, processes and creative play. Partial funding for our program for autism comes from the North Shore Autism Circle.

Drop in The Manes Center to create projects and work inspired by the art on view in the current exhibition. Spend up to an hour exploring a range of materials, techniques, and themes.

Spring Fling: Super Family Sunday

Artmaking, 1:00 - 4:00 pm at The Manes Center
Fadeyev Ballet Performances 1:15 pm and 3:15 pm at the Museum
Museum admission plus $15.00 family materials fee

Join us for our Super Family Sunday inspired by the Age of Jazz! Bring a packed picnic to enjoy on the grounds of the Museum (weather permitting) before attending a performance by the dance students of Fadeyev Ballet of Greenvale. Create dapper, fashionable hats or headbands and experiment with geometric printmaking inspired by Art Deco architecture during our family artmaking. A day of dance, music and artmaking – it’s sure to be the bee’s knees!
