The Great Gatsby may just have been one of the best parties on Long Island since the days of Jay Gatsby himself. Guests got into the spirit of the fabled Jazz Age with flapper dresses, headbands, feathers, and mountains of sparkling jewelry. The lavish tented pavilions for the cocktail hour and dinner similarly evoked the extravagant décor of Long Island’s Gold Coast history.

The Museum Ball is the museum’s major annual fundraising affair, raising significant support for exhibitions and educational programming. The 2013 Ball was chaired by Museum Board Member Angela Susan Anton, the publisher and owner of Anton Community Publications. The Journal Committee was chaired by M. Patricia Janco-Tupper, senior vice president, wealth advisor for Wells Fargo Bank; and Rebecca Creavin, senior vice president, private banker for Wells Fargo Bank. Congratulations to our chairs and committee members for a very successful and beautiful event.

Support the Museum

Since 1989 Nassau County Museum of Art has presented world-class exhibitions and stellar public and educational programming to Long Island communities.  We need your support to continue this tradition of excellence!

Your contributions support programming for children, exhibitions and family-related events. Please support your Museum and know that every dollar is an investment in the future of your community.

Here are just a few of the many wonderful reasons to contribute to the Nassau County Museum of Art:

  • Named one of the top ten museums in the New York Metropolitan area by Newsday
  • Named Long Island's Best Museum by LI Press
  • Named one of 12 of the most extraordinary Museums in New York State by Former Governor Pataki
  • Over 200,000 visitors attend the Museum every year - a figure that grows exponentially
  • More than 30,000 students participate in Museum Education Programs throughout the school year
  • Outreach programs are provided to local public libraries, senior centers, assisted living facilities, universities and hospitals.
  • The Museum is completely handicap accessible with a new outdoor ramp and elevator in the main building.
  • Fun indoors and out, the Museum features an Outdoor Sculpture Garden - the largest in the northeast - with works by Fernando Botero, Chaim Gross, Richard Serra, Mark di Suvero, Tom Otterness and many others. We are continually adding to the outstanding collection thanks to purchases made by the Museums own Contemporary Collectors Circle and the generous long term loans of patrons and galleries.
  • Natural Landscape is something that makes the Museum such a special place. There is plenty to experience on the 145 acre property. Visit the Formal Gardens, originally designed by Marian Cruger Coffin and restored to their original splendor. Walk any one of the nine Nature Trails or explore the historic Pinetum which boasts many spectacular trees including two Sequoias - the largest of their kind on the east coast!
