Explore the luminous world of cyanotypes in this fun and experimental 3-hour hands-on
introductory workshop. Cyanotype is an alternative photographic process that requires no darkroom or special equipment, making it an accessible medium for all skill levels.

We will begin with a brief foraging walk on the museum grounds, gathering natural materials to use in our compositions. Back in the studio, participants will learn the history of cyanotype, see contemporary examples, and walk step-by-step through preparing, exposing, and developing their own blue-and-white sun prints. Optional enhancement techniques — including toning and hand-coloring — will also be introduced. Students will leave with a set of one-of-a-kind prints and the knowledge to continue creating cyanotypes at home.

Led by award-winning Long Island artist and educator Christine Donnelly. No experience necessary — just bring curiosity, creativity, and a love of nature!

All art-making materials are included. Participants are encouraged to be prepared with gloves and comfortable shoes for any potential outdoor portions of the workshop. Participants have the option to bring additional 2-D items for printing if desired.

Pre-registration is required by all.  Click here to become a member.
