Introduction to Wheel Throwing

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Saturdays

Beginner to intermediate levels.
Adults and Teens 16+

Location: The Manes Art Education Center

Beginners will learn the fundamental skills necessary to throw cylinders, cups, bowls and more on a pottery wheel. Follow along step-by-step demonstrations of wedging, centering, pulling, forming, and trimming, along with an introduction to surface decoration techniques.

Price for 6 weeks: $427.50 members | $450 non-members
Price for 7 weeks: $498.75 members | $525 non-members

Tuesdays with Amy Booth
10 am – 12:30 pm and 1:30 – 4 pm

  • Winter Session (7 weeks): January 13, 20, 27, February 3, 10, 24, March 3 (no class on 2/17)
  • Spring Session 1 (7 weeks): March 10, 17, 24, 31, April 14, 21, 28 (no class 4/7)
  • Spring Session 2 (7 weeks): May 5, 12, 19, June 2, 9, 16, 23 (no class 5/26)

Wednesdays with Laura Badke
10 am – 12:30 pm & 1 – 3:30 pm

  • Winter Session (7 weeks): January 14, 21, 28, February 4, 11, 25, March 4 (no class on 2/18)
  • Spring Session 1 (7 weeks): March 18, 25, April 1, 15, 22, 29, May 6 (no class 4/8)
  • Spring Session 2 (7 weeks): May 13, 20, 27, June 3, 10, 17, 24

Saturdays with Laura Badke
10 am – 12:30 pm

  • Winter Session (7 weeks): January 17, 24, 31, February 7, 14, 28, March 7 (no class on 2/21)
  • Spring Session 1 (6 weeks): March 21, 28, April 11, 18, 25, May 9 (no class 4/4, 5/2)
  • Spring Session 2 (6 weeks): May 16, 30, June 6, 13, 20, 27 (no class 5/23)

Registered participants receive the following per registered session:

  • 1 – 12 lb. bag of clay*
  • Kiln Firings
  • Shelf space for storage
  • May attend 1 optional Open Studio session per week which is based on a sign-up basis.

Materials for all ceramics classes: We do not supply clay tools during class. A tool kit can be purchased at checkout and kept on your shelf in the Center.

Please bring the following items to class.

  • Ceramic tool kit** (may be purchased at checkout for an additional $20)
  • An apron
  • 1 notebook and pencil
  • 1 hand towel
  • 1 plastic shoe box

*Only the clay provided by our studio may be used in class and fired in our kiln. Additional 25 lb. bag of clay may be purchased for $40.

**We do not supply clay tools during class. A tool kit can be purchased at checkout and kept on your shelf in the Center.

 

Pre-registration is required for this on-site class.
