Art journaling is a creative practice that allows for self-expression in a unique and personal way. In this workshop participants will explore various creative tools and techniques, including upcycling of materials, collaging, stenciling, painting, fabric manipulation and more. This workshop will offer a space for connection, sharing and collective creativity! All levels are welcome. Participants may work in a mixed media art journal, sketchbook or repurposed hard cover book to transform into an art journal.
Workshops are non-consecutive but returning participants may bring their previously worked-on projects and skills to build upon. Participants are encouraged to bring their own personal materials and ephemera (photographs, collage materials, poetry, etc.)
Denise Gilgannon Collins is a recently retired public school Art teacher. In addition to teaching, she owned and operated The Mermaid Art Studio in Long Beach, a studio for children and adults, from 2013-2015. Painting, drawing and teaching are her life-long passions.
