Great Women Artists: Theory and Criticism Virtual Director’s Seminar Featuring Guest Scholar Courtney L. Weida

We welcome a distinguished scholar whose writings on women in art bring an important perspective to the study of the works in the exhibition and their historical context.

Courtney L. Weida, Professor of Gender Studies, Adelphi

Courtney Lee Weida is a writer and teaching artist.  Her research addresses gender issues in arts education, often focusing on girlhood studies, craftivism (craft+activism), and handmade, self-published books by women artists.  She holds a doctorate in Art & Art Education from Columbia University Teachers College and a master’s degree from Harvard University, and serves as director of the Art Education graduate program at Adelphi University.
