Docent Cheryl Backus will lead visitors through Museum galleries to honor and explore the achievements of Black artists and their relationship to Black Americans, the African diaspora, and the arts. Dr. Backus will discuss the creative synergy between the professional and personal perspectives influencing the artwork on view, including (but not limited to) works by Romare Bearden, Sam Nhlengthwa, Miles Davis, and a celebration of Marian Anderson’s musical achievements.
