NCMA Celebrates Autism Month

Nassau County Museum of Art invites people of all ages on the Autism Spectrum and their families, care providers and coaches to join us for a joyful day of theater, music and art. This very special day is planned in conjunction with the Museum’s exhibition Impressionism: A Global View, and is free for all participantsRegistration required for Branching Out performance.

At the Mansion

Tilles Center presents: Branching Out
A multi-sensory theatrical performance

Performance I: Children 5-12 years of age
Time: 9-9:50 am

Performance II: Teens and Young Adults 13 and up
Time: 10:30-11:20 am

Branching Out is an original theater production conceived by Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, specifically created for audiences on the autism spectrum and those who may have limited movement, sensory and/or complex communication needs. This is an immersive, multi-sensory theatrical experience about a journey through the four seasons, which features live music and interactive play. Branching Out is designed for audiences of thirty people or less per performance. Registration required.

Stroll through the Museum’s galleries exploring Impressionism: A World View

At The Manes Art & Education Center

Spectrum Perspectives
An exhibition of art created by people with ASD: NCMA celebrates the diversity of talents and perspectives of people with Autism. We invite artists of all ages with ASD to share their art with us as part of our exhibition Spectrum Perspectives.

  • Artist’s Eligibility
    Open to all artists on the spectrum.
  • Artwork Requirements
    One to two works per person. 2D (unframed). 3D works are welcome. Artworks cannot exceed 20 inches in size.
  • Deadline
    Friday, April 1, 4 pm. Art must be dropped off at the Museum before or on this date.
  • Artwork Drop-offs
    Please email artclasses@nassaumuseum.org to make an appointment to drop off work.

Opening date: Saturday, April 30
Exhibition time: 11 am-3 pm
Hands on art making project. Refreshments will be served!

Additional dates to see the exhibition:
Tuesday, May 3-Saturday, May 7
Exhibition time: 11 am-4 pm
