Abstract Watercolor Collage

Inspired by artist Elaine de Kooning from the Museum’s exhibition Heroines of Abstract Expressionism.

Elaine de Kooning  was a writer and painter, who created many artworks during the Abstract Expressionist movement. She used drips and gestural washes of color, and incorporated spontaneous movement. She became known for her portraits, but also created many works inspired by cave paintings and images of people playing sports.

Materials: watercolor paper, watercolor paint, glue, paint stick or marker
