Drawing with Line

Inspired by artist Dorothy Dehner on view in the Museum’s exhibition Heroines of Abstract Expressionism.

Dorothy Dehner  was a painter and sculptor who focused on use of line to create her artwork. She was inspired by skeletons of prehistoric birds and microscopic forms like cells, and how lines helped to create their forms. Her work incorporates an intricate play of lines to form geometric shapes and forms that seem to resemble cities or acrobats in motion.

Materials: paper, ruler, pen or marker
